Zippers can be tricky things...

I haven't really gotten into blogging at all yet... but I decided there are some things in life that you just want to remember forever, and what better way to keep them documented? This blog I hope will continue to be a journal of all the "little things of life" that make it so great!

It happened on Tuesday... I was sitting at my desk at work when I got a phone call from Phil. He sounded a little stressed and asked if I could rush downstairs to lobby of the Church Office Building, "this is an emergency" he told me. It sounded pretty urgent, so I jumped on the elevator and rushed to see what his emergency was.
When I got down to the lobby and turned the corner, there he was, with the same look on his face as a little kid who just wet their pants and didn't know what to do next.

As I got closer I noticed his fly was down... I immediately started to laugh as I approached and asked him if he knew that his fly was down. "I know, that is the emergency!!!" Phil said. "My zipper broke and will not go up, and I have to go give a presentation to a group in 15 mins." I again busted up laughing just picturing what this would look like. Totally unamused by my amusement, Phil grabbed my hand and walked me to the center of the lobby and said "I need you to fix this for me and we are running out of time." Now I pretend to be domestic in lots of ways, cooking, cleaning, laundry. But sewing, and fixing clothes, Not so much my thing. But being the loving and concerned wife that I am, agreed to help him in this dire situation.

He handed me one safety pin.(like one pin was going to do the trick) As I reached for his zipper I reassessed where we were and looked around the room and saw groups of little old lady hostess standing around the lobby just staring at us. I again, busted up laughing and asked "How do you suggest going about this discreetly?, This could potentially appear a little on the awkward side." We found a couch near the edge of the lobby and sat down and I got to work. Scared to death that I was going to blow any chances of children in our future, I strategically pinned his pants closed. He stood up, only to see all my great work only brought more attention to his dilemma, so he asked me to try again. The whole time I am working people are walking passed us doing the double take thing, I am sure wondering what the heck we are doing. Phil is getting anxious and informing me that peole are staring and that I need to hurry. And at that moment I lost it, all the composure I had tried to keep was gone. I was laughing so hard, I could not see! I had tears just running down my cheeks. The harder I would laugh, the more irritated Phil got. "If you're not going to help you could at least stop laughing.." Which made me laugh even harder, again attracting even more attention to our zipper operation. Finally Phil took the pin did some crazy pin job and stood up and said, "This is as good as its gonna be, I gotta go, how does it look?" Still laughing uncontrollably, "Not good" I said. Phil totally annoyed at this point (i don't blame him at all) rolled his eyes and walked away. I followed him over to the chair where he had previously dropped his bag and coat. When we got to the chair, good ole Church Security at work was about to radio in a suspicious bag that had been left unattended. "We were seconds away from calling in the bomb squad." they told Phil. Again my composure totally gone at this point, busted up laughing.

About 2 hours later I called Phil to see how the presentation had gone. He said it was fine. I asked him if anyone had called him out on his zipper situation. We all know they noticed, but just wondered if anyone brought it to his attention. Only one lady. Right as he was about to go up and present a lady he works with turned to him and said, "You know your zipper is down, right Phil? To which Phil could only answer "right." I sure love this guy!!
